The Swale & Ure Internal Drainage Board has one pumping station within the District at Maunby, known as Spudling Dyke.
Spudling Dyke pumping station was constructed in 1978 by the Board to maintain a satisfactory water level within the 120ha catchment it serves. Watercourses within the catchment were significantly improved and were also part of the scheme which was grant aided by MAFF.
The pumping station consists of a single Archimedean screw with the inlet invert at 20.10 m Above Ordnance Datum (AOD) and delivery invert at 23.20m AOD. The screw is 1200mm in diameter and 8.0m in length. Its design output is 250l/s and discharges into the River Wiske.
For the financial year 2018-19 the pump has operated a total of 958 hours.
